Spanish Oaks Presents to School Board

We were so excited to spotlight our school at the April School Board meeting and thank the School Board members for their support and involvement!  Our presentation began with Shauna Warnick, a parent-member of our SCC, spotlighting some of the great things happening at Spanish Oaks, i.e., collaboration, EXTRA Teams, teacher excellence, etc.  Following this report, we were so pleased to present a scene from our school play, Alice in Wonderland, recognizing Miranda Duke, our outstanding parent volunteer, who has directed and provided this experience for the students of Spanish Oaks for the last three years.  To close our presentation we were proud to welcome our EXTRA Club dancers, taught and directed by our very own sixth grade teacher, Mr. Gregg Crockett.  They performed a rousing Bulgarian dance number that will be show-cased in a school and family performance tonight!  We closed the evening recognizing all of the 'Teachers of the Year', with a special tribute going to our very own Angela Olsen!  What a wonderful evening!! http://www.nebo.edu/news/1337

Crystal Apple Award Recipient, Emily Monroe!!

On Tuesday, April 15, 2014, the Crystal Apple Award was presented to Emily Monroe at Spanish Oaks Elementary.  The Crystal Apple Award is given to teachers that show devotion to students and outstanding performance in the classroom, and is awarded by nomination from the school faculty.  Mrs. Monroe is adored by her students and loved by the Spanish Oaks faculty and staff.  She has been teaching at our school for two years with our students of highest need.  Collaboration and positivity are some of her many strengths.  Whether it be with students, parents, or faculty members, she always makes everyone feel important and special.  Congratulations, Mrs. Monroe!

Kindy 500 at Spanish Oaks

Spanish Oaks amazing kindergarten students traveled the United States today and took us along for the ride!  Our students dazzled parents and guests with their renditions of:  God Bless the U.S.A., Grand Ole Flag and Life is A Highway.   Our student body then cheered them on as they "drove" through the halls of our school in their custom-made vehicles.  Ka-chow!

PRCA Rodeo Reading Champions Challenge Assembly

The PRCA Rodeo Champions Challenge is coming to the Spanish Fork Fairgrounds Arena Saturday, May 31.  This rodeo will feature the world’s All-star Cowboys who will be in town for one night to compete on some of the world’s best animals for the winning prize.

Spanish Fork City came to our school to invite all the students of Spanish Oaks Elementary to ‘compete’ alongside the Cowboys in The Reading Champions Challenge, April 1 thru April 30, 2014.  The assembly was hosted by Randy Munns, our city's very own rodeo clown,  along with members of the Spanish Fork Fiesta Days Royalty and representatives from the Rodeo Committee.  Students were challenged to keep track of the reading they do during the month of April and return it to their teacher at the end of the month.  Winners will be chosen from all of our returned reading calendars from each grade level.  Seven Champion Readers will be awarded two (2) tickets each to the rodeo!  Thank you, Spanish Fork City, for an amazing assembly and awesome reading challenge!  Yee haw!!

April Fools Day at Spanish Oaks

April 1st not only brought SNOW (what???!?), but lots of fun jokes for April Fool's Day at Spanish Oaks.  "Teacher, my mom accidentally washed my class shirt the night before our program (light green) with a red towel and now it's PINK! ... April Fools!"  Typed note on our fancy new copy machines indicating that, "The copiers are now 'voice activated' ..." resulting in teachers shouting their copying codes into the machine to try to get them to make copies!  Classic pranks and good sports all around!
