Spanish Oaks Teacher of the Year

Jasmine Martin, second grade teacher, has been chosen as our school's Teacher of the Year.  She joined us 4 years ago as an intern in fourth grade.  She is married and expecting her first baby.  She has a pleasant and calming personality that is great to be around.

Principal Kali Brown says of her, "I admire Jasmine's many valuable qualities and regard her with ever increasing respect.  Very goal oriented, as well as a team player, she is keenly devoted to her work.  She takes seriously her role in meeting the needs of each of her students."  A parent of one of her past students states, "My son specifically remembers how she made everyone feel happy!  The ability to be able to see the good in each student and create a learning environment where students want to learn because of the way you make them feel is a true gift."  And a parent of a current student, "As I think about my experiences with her I can't help but be impressed by her quiet goodness.  She makes her classroom a place where students want to be."

Mrs. Martin is a true asset to our faculty here at Spanish Oaks.  We are lucky to have her and proud to call her one of our "family".  Thanks, Jasmine!!

Box Top Winner at Spanish Oaks

BOX TOPS for Education

It was a SUPER close race this year …  We are thrilled to announce that the winner of the pizza celebration is …  Miss McKendrick’s 1st Grade Class with a total of 1,203 box tops turned in.

Our whole school total box tops collected this year was 13,711 box tops! AMAZING!  That equates to $1,371 for our school!

Thank you to everyone for collecting and bringing them to school.  Keep collecting your box tops and turn them into your teacher for next year!!  A special “thank you” to Miss Mellor for organizing this event, and to all our families for their support!

Mrs. Robinson's kindergarten class had their rhyming celebration. The kids had a blast trying to figure out their friends rhymes they brought from home.

Community Helper Day In First Grade at Spanish Oaks

Students came to school dressed up as what they want to be when they grow up. They were educated about different careers in their community. In the morning we had the opportunity to hear from the Credit Union, a veterinarian, and a 911 dispatcher.  After recess, students watched presentations from an electrician, police officer, and PCT (Patient Career Tech).  Our last presenters were a singer, our very own principal, and Mrs. Phelps who talked about being a mom and grandma.

Costco Teacher Appreciation Day

At the Costco teacher appreciation evening last Friday Mr. Rigby won backpacks for each student in his class!  Yeah!  Here is a picture of his students with their new backpacks.
