October Reading Celebration with Mrs. Brown

Submitted by lindsay.robison on

When teachers recieve student reading calendars at the end of every month, they give students reading tickets.  The number of reading tickets a student recieves is determined by how many minutes they read each week during the month.  These tickets are put into a big bin with all the reading tickets for every child in the school.  Then, one person from each class is drawn to have a Reading Celebration with Mrs. Brown.  These students had a fun time at their popcorn party!  Keep reading, Explorers!

September Treasure Winning Class

Submitted by lindsay.robison on

At our school we give out "treasures" to students that are doing good at our school.  They can get a treasure by simply walking quietly in the hall, picking up trash in the classroom, or being a friend to someone at recess.  Treasures are gold pieces of paper that have a coin on them.   When students receive a treasure, they write their name on it and put it in their class treasure chest.

Scera Theater Field Trip

Submitted by lindsay.robison on

First grade had a wonderful time at Scena Theater watching the play "Willy Wonka." The kids had lots of questions for the cast after the performance. We were a little chilly eating lunch at the park,  but it warmed up in time for us to enjoy the awesome play ground.  Thanks to the parents who went with us. It was a "scrumdiddlyumptius" day!!!

Mrs. Dimmick and Mr. Crockett wrote a grant for a classroom set of Chromebooks to share. They were awarded the grant and are excited to implement the ideas in their classrooms that they have learned when getting their technology endorsements.
