Science EXTRA Club Starts at Spanish Oaks

Science extra started off with two experiments. We started out asking questions about the materials we had and then made hypotheses.

Our first experiment we mixed a borax solution and glue together. The students made a hypothesis that it would explode, bubble, and rise when they got mixed together. They sure had a surprise when it ended up making some crazy putty. It was great to see their reactions!

For the second experiment we mixed baking soda and water together and wrote messages and drew pictures on paper. This week we’ll use another ingredient to see if we can uncover the messages by causing another scientific reaction!

We are going to continue to learn more about the scientific method and record what we learn from our experiments.

Tailgating for Tummies School Food Drive

In conjunction with this year's school food drive ... we are adding a competition leading to the Super Bowl called “Tailgating for Tummies”.  We will work to see which class can bring in the most “touchdowns”, and the grade-level with the greatest total will win the Super Bowl Tailgate Celebration.

How to get a touchdown:  For every 100 items (representing 100 yards on a football field) a class will earn a "touchdown".  Student Council Members will come by each morning to collect the food drive items.  Our School Food Drive goes through Friday, January 27, 2017.  Thank you, everyone!!!!
