Congratulations to our very own Kelly Burtenshaw who was awarded the "Spirit of PTA" award today out of all the schools in Region 10 (includes 55 PTA's in Nebo & Provo school districts). Also, congrats to Laura Theodosis, our Membership Chair, who received an "Outstanding Membership Campaign" award. Thank you, ladies, for your service to our school!
Mrs. Dimmick’s class has been working hard this term on their art work. They have been working on skills such as: perseverance, hard work, decision making, problem solving, sequencing, proportions, size, balance, and thinking and reasoning. They are presenting their work in an art show for their parents. They were asked by the BYU Arts Partnership if they could come and make a video about the students work. Some students were interviewed and we look forward to seeing the interest piece.

Breakfast was a popular meal at our school this past week. We even had some special visitors. Officer Slaymaker and Miss Spanish Fork both made an appearance to help pass out prizes. Special thanks to our lunch ladies for their extra time and effort!
Part of the 1st-grade core is learning about community helpers. On community helper day, students come to school dressed up as what they want to be when they grow up. Then we have parents come share their job with the whole grade. They talk about how much schooling you need in order to have that as your career as well as the good and hard things they do in their job. We had the opportunity to hear from a Nebo Credit Union President, chemist, 911 operator, electrician, police officer, beekeeper, nurse, and flutist. It was such an educational day for the students!
Dr. Seuss Day is a fun day of the year because not only do students get to dress up like characters from Dr. Seuss books but they also get to complete lots of curriculum-tied Dr. Seuss activities. We would read a Dr. Seuss book and then do an activity. We read the book, "I Can Read With My Eyes Shut" and then students filled out their Dr. Seuss hats with poems about places they can read. We read "Green Eggs and Ham" and then ate "green eggs" which was really vanilla pudding dyed green with a vanilla wafer on top. Another class favorite was reading "One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish" and then graphing rainbow goldfish. It was a fun day to be in first grade!
We had a lot of amazing science experiments shared in 4th grade! Each student followed the scientific method as they conducted their experiment. Afterwards, they shared with the class the steps they took and if their hypothesis was correct. These kids are going to change the world!
