Special Visitor at Spanish Oaks

Submitted by kali.brown on

We were so excited to have a very special visitor at Spanish Oaks today!  Superintendent Rick Nielsen visited each of our classrooms and joined in as our students worked on iReady, MyOn and BLAST.  Superintendent Nielsen treated our first graders in Mrs. Phelps' class to his favorite story ... Hooway for Wodney Wat!  What a great way to start the day ... we love and appreciate you, Superintendent Nielsen!

It's Back to Colonial Days

Submitted by sherri.peterson on

Our 5th grade students are having a wonderful time spending the day in their classrooms doing things that students in school in Colonial times would do.  There's no technology happening today, and they are reading and writing in primers and using slates for writing.  Even their names and dress have been changed.  Hopefully no one has to spend time in the dunce chair ;)

Teacher Spotlights

Submitted by sherri.peterson on

Sixth grade students had the opportunity to come up with questions and interview teachers.  These interviews will be used to spotlight teachers throughout the year.  The students did a great job and had fun getting to know all of the teachers!

Watch our School News to see the upcoming spotlights :)

Wands Earned for Multiplication Fact Memorization

Submitted by sherri.peterson on

Our 3rd graders have been working so hard to get their wands.  Last week we gave away as many in one week as we ever have. Each student works hard to pass off their fast facts 1-10 to earn a wand made by Mrs. Dimmick. We are so proud of each and every one of our students and can’t wait to give out more wands!

Adverb Charades!

Submitted by sherri.peterson on

Mrs.Stewart’s class has been learning about adverbs. Today they played charades where they each picked a verb and an adverb and had to act it out for their group. They had a blast and did a great job identifying the verbs and the adverbs they were performing !
