Force and Motion

Submitted by sherri.peterson on

We have been learning about force and motion in third grade for the last couple of weeks. Today Mrs. Stewart’s class experimented with golf balls and ping pong balls trying to get them onto a target by applying force. They had so much fun and had a great discussion about mass of an object and applying force to move the objects.

Teacher Spotlight Miss McKendrick, Fourth Grade

Submitted by sherri.peterson on

Miss Mckendrick is a 4th grade teacher here at Spanish Oaks.  Her favorite part about teaching is the kids' funny personalities and stories that they tell.  If she wasn’t a teacher she would be a famous singer and dancer because she is amazing at singing and dancing.  Her dream vacation would be somewhere warm like by a beach in Hawaii, with Acai Bowls.  She grew up in American Fork and Highland, Utah.

Mrs. Lindstrom loves to sew, go camping, knit and hang out with her kids.  Her favorite soda is Coke.  She loves to read, garden, and work on projects.  She has been working at Spanish Oaks for 15 years.  She grew up in Lindon, UT.  Her favorite school subject is math.  She tries to look at the positive side of things.  She is a grandmother of nine kids, and she doesn't like the wind in Spanish Fork.

BYU Women's Basketball Kids Day

Submitted by sherri.peterson on

Our 1st-6th grade students attended Kids Day at BYU for their Women's basketball game yesterday.  They had a great time and did a superb job of being respectful!  We were specifically invited back due to our excellent behavior.  Way to represent and be an example of ... Being Kind, Showing Respect and Working Hard, Spanish Oaks students!

Thank You Nebo Hero Cole Valentine

A huge “shout out” to Cole Valentine, bus driver extraordinaire!  Mr. Valentine chauffeured all of our Spanish Oaks 3rd grade students to and from our BYU women’s basketball game Kids Day field trip today and he was the best.  He regaled us with stories about why school buses are painted yellow, how many fans are on the school bus and how many gallons of diesel fuel a school bus holds.  We learned a lot and had a super good time!  Thank you, Mr. Valentine, for keeping us entertained and getting us to and from our destination safely.

Character Traits Study

Submitted by sherri.peterson on

Mrs. Stewart’s class has been learning about character traits. Today they got to play a game where they matched a character's description with a trait. Each group had such wonderful discussions about their ideas and they all did such great job matching the correct description with the word.
