Susan Phelps was awarded our Crystal Apple Award for 2019-20.  She shared the following information about herself so we can get to know her better.  "This is my sixteenth year on staff here at Spanish Oaks Elementary.  I love the administration, co-workers, and families here at Spanish Oaks and consider myself lucky to be at this school where I know that the education and well-being of each child is first priority.  I graduated from Southern Utah University with a BS in Elementary and Early Childhood Education.  Completing my education was a long-time dream co

Staff Spotlight Mrs. Swain, ACC Technician

Submitted by sherri.peterson on

Mrs. Swain is an ACC Technician at Spanish Oaks.  Her favorite subject is Art because it lets you express yourself and the way you see the world.  Her favorite hobby is Zumba, she loves it because she loves music and it's a great exercise.  She loves teaching because you have the potential to help kids develop and learn.  If she wasn’t an ACC Technician she would be a dancer because it’s a good way to show every emotion.

Teacher Spotlight Mrs. Baldwin, ACC Classroom

Submitted by sherri.peterson on

Mrs. Baldwin is our new ACC Teacher at Spanish Oaks Elementary.  We are so happy she is here.  She grew up in Holland, a beautiful part of the Netherlands.  She attended three colleges, but mostly BYU.  Her favorite part about teaching is the children.  It doesn't matter what their differences are, she loves the children all the same.  Her favorite school subject is reading, especially with children.  If she wasn't a teacher she would be a Mom because of her love for children.

White Board Eagle Project at Spanish Oaks

Submitted by kali.brown on

"For my Eagle Scout project, I collected the hand-held white boards that are used in the classrooms from teachers who wanted theirs to be included.  We washed the fronts and backs of the boards and then painted the backs to cover up the graffiti that students had written over the years.  Then we painted a compass rose on the back to represent the Explorers.  The boards look completely different and much nicer.  When things look nice, people tend to take care of them.  I hope the newly painted backs will help the teachers teach with fewer distractions."&nb
