Mr. Bradford's class had a great time exploring capacity.  They were learning about how different containers can be combined to fill larger containers.  They weren't told the names of the standard measurement that they were actually using i.e., gallon, quart, pint, cup, ounce.  They referred to them as milk jug, rootbeer bottle, etc.  Later, they will label them with the standard measurement names, rather than the nonstandard names we were using.  The students will then make the connection that ... 4 quarts = 1 gallon, etc.   That's a super engaged bunch of students!
