September is Attendance Awareness Month at Spanish Oaks, and all throughout Nebo School District! A special "thank you" to Mrs. Carter and Mrs. Johnson in our office who help keep track of us and help us remember to be on time and come to school every day. We appreciate our parents who help their children be in attendance and arrive on time for school each day. Thank you!
Kindergarten students at Spanish Oaks had the opportunity to help print the designs on their very own kindergarten t-shirts today with the help of Mr. Victor Dominguez of Logo Print Solutions. We walked to his printing shop and saw the big machine he uses to print each logo on a shirt. Every student was allowed to help push the pedal that rotated the shirts through the giant wheel where the ink and screening process took place. Then, each student caught their shirt "hot" off the conveyor belt as it came out of the drying oven! The students loved being a part of the printing process and were especially impressed with the many colors of paint Mr. Dominguez had lining his shelves. What a fun and exciting learning experience!
Mrs. Phelps’ class enjoyed watching their class t-shirts be printed with the “First Grade Explorer” logo. Mr. Dominquez showed students how he pushes the ink onto the shirts. He then let the kids put their own shirts onto a conveyor belt that sent the shirts through the dryer to set the ink. A special "thank you" to Mr. Dominquez for teaching us something new and fun! We love our new lime green shirts!
National PTA's Reflections program encourages students in pre-K through grade 12 to explore and be involved in the arts. The theme for the 2014-2015 school year is: The world would be a better place if ... Thousands of students will reflect on the theme and create original works of art in the categories of dance choreography, film production, music composition, literature, photography and visual arts. We will kick off the season with our Opening Assembly on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. All entries are DUE Wednesday, October 22, 2014. Our Awards Assembly/Celebration will be held Monday, November 3, 2014 from 2:45 p.m.-3:15 p.m. We are excited to see what the students of Spanish Oaks create!
This year at Spanish Oaks we are focusing on being "Bucket Fillers"! Each of us has an invisible bucket. It is constantly emptied or filled, depending on what others say or do to us. When our bucket is full, we feel great. When it’s empty, we feel awful … At Spanish Oaks, we fill buckets!
Everyone was very excited, and a little nervous for the first day of school in 1st grade, even the teachers. As all of the students gathered on the carpet for a story, one new friend raised his hand ...
Teacher: "Yes, do you have a question?"
Student: "Teacher, I was just wondering ... Is there a reason why your shoes don't match?"
Welcome back to school, everyone!
Ahoy, Matey! The theme for our third grade this year is "Pirates". Today we talked about how pirates would make ropes from individual strings, and how we are stronger as we learn and work together. Every student made their own rope bracelet as a reminder. Yo Ho Ho ... it's going to be a great year in 3rd grade!
