In conjunction with this year's school food drive ... we are adding a competition leading to the Super Bowl called “Tailgating for Tummies”. We will work to see which class can bring in the most “touchdowns”, and the grade-level with the greatest total will win the Super Bowl Tailgate Celebration.
Our annual Holiday Food Drive will run from January 17 – January 27, 2017. Thanks to your generous donations, for the last few years we have collected thousands of items!! All donations to Tabitha's Way will stay here locally to help stop hunger. This year our goal is to EXCEED last year's goal!! All donations stay here locally ... Thank you so much for your support!
We invite students in first through sixth grade who want to sing with the Spanish Oaks Choir to register. We start practicing for our spring performances on Wednesday, January 18, at 8:00 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. in the Little Theater.
We have the opportunity of presenting at the Music at the Mountain on April 12, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. Our final performance will be in late April or early May.
Students in first through sixth grade who are interested in the arts can sign up for Spanish Oaks ARTS EXTRA. Working with parents and faculty, interested students will meet for 2 weeks on Wednesday(s) and Friday(s) from 3:20 p.m.-4:30 p.m. on January 18, 20, 25, and 27 to explore art. The students will focus on drawing basics and use of a sketchbook. They will discover various media, styles, and techniques.
Mrs. Dimmick's third grade class went on a treasure hunt, courtesy of Mrs. Brown. They were the class with the most "treasures" earned this past month, so they got to follow the clues to find the treasure ... chocolate milk and cookies! What better treasure could be at the end of the hunt?

Tanner Christiansen, a second grader in Miss Haddock's class, is headed to the state level with his Reflections entry. We are so proud of him and wish him the best! We'd love to see him head to Florida for Nationals. Way to go, Tanner!

We are excited to offer Science EXTRA this year at Spanish Oaks for the younger grades! Miss McKendrick will be teaching this class for students in grade(s) 1-3. The class will focus on the Scientific Method, where we will make hypotheses and perform tests and experiments to find answers. Some of the experiments we will do will include: reactions with Alka-Seltzer, baking soda, lemon juice, etc.
