Learning Capacity in the Fourth Grade at Spanish Oaks

Mr. Bradford's class had a great time exploring capacity.  They were learning about how different containers can be combined to fill larger containers.  They weren't told the names of the standard measurement that they were actually using i.e., gallon, quart, pint, cup, ounce.  They referred to them as milk jug, rootbeer bottle, etc.  Later, they will label them with the standard measurement names, rather than the nonstandard names we were using.  The students will then make the connection that ...

Holiday Food Drive at Spanish Oaks

Our annual Holiday Food Drive will run from November 1, 2015 - November 15, 2015.  Thanks to your generous donations, last year we collected ... 4,365 items!!  All donations to Tabitha's Way  will stay here locally to help stop hunger.  This year our goal is to EXCEED last year's goal!!

Halloween Costume Parade at Spanish Oaks

We will have our Halloween Costume Parade this Friday, October 30th at 2:45 p.m.-3:10 p.m.  The parade will go around the outside of the school again this year.  There is no bad place to watch ... You are welcome to sit any place around the school.  All students will walk around the entire school one time, with our kindergarten leading us.  Students are welcome to come dressed in their costume, but a reminder of NO WEAPONS OR ANYTHING THAT LOOKS LIKE A WEAPON!!  Please, NO MASKS ...

Elizabeth Hyatt, Speech Therapist at Spanish Oaks

Elizabeth is the speech therapist at Spanish Oaks this year. She grew up in Georgia and came to Utah to attend Brigham Young University. She now lives in Provo with her husband who is finishing a degree in mechanical engineering. Elizabeth loves being outdoors and especially enjoys hiking around Spanish Fork and canoeing in the Everglades. Other activities she enjoys include reading classic literature, cooking treats, and playing board games with family.   We love Mrs.

Pay It Forward - Connor's Toy Drive

"... Want to provide a little fun and love to children stuck in the hospital during the holidays?  Little Connor Quigg, [a student at Spanish Oaks Elementary], can help you do that.

Connor recently realized that while he got to go home after doctor visits, other children spent the night in the hospital.  He decided he wanted to bring toys to them, because "the kids don't have anything to play with.  And if they get scared or bored, I got them something to play with."

The Theme for the 2015-2016 Reflections program is:  LET YOUR IMAGINATION FLY!   "National PTA Reflections welcomes students from all grades and abilities to explore and be involved in the arts ... thousands of students will reflect on a common theme and create original works of art in the categories of Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography and Visual Arts."

Nebo Education Foundation October Grants Given

"The Nebo Education Foundation Board had a record number of grants awarded in October ..."  Below are two of our very own Spanish Oaks family who received funds to meet student needs.  "This Foundation Board functions through generous donations made by individuals and businesses, as well as fundraisers where all the money goes to educate students in Nebo School District.  Thank you to all those that so generously supported Nebo students through donations.  Congratulations to the following teachers that continue to inspire the minds of students!"
