Our adorable 2nd grade teacher, Jenna Reid, is in her third year of teaching and second year at Spanish Oaks Elementary.  She loves being a teacher, and is looking forward to becoming a mom, as her first child, a baby girl is due this April.  Her own mother is what inspired Jenna to teach; growing up, watching the dedication and hard work it took to be a teacher.  More importantly, Mrs. Reid saw the fulfillment and joy her mother had by simply enriching the lives of others. That is exactly what she does today.  In her first year of teaching Jenna recalls her favorite moment teaching:  “It happened during my first year. I had been working with a student who was really struggling to read. She honestly believed that she wasn't capable of it. One day she looked at me after finishing a book we had been working and said, ‘Mrs. Reid, I am a good reader!’”

Some things you may not know about Spanish Oaks very own Mrs. Reid include that her favorite subject to teach is math!  Jenna enjoys reading, running and cheering on the BYU Cougars & the LA Clippers in her spare time.  Her favorite snack is gummy worms.  Although she drinks mostly water, she loves Dr. Pepper and Cherry Coke.  If Jenna could travel anywhere in the world, it would be to Italy.  She wants to experience the history, art and food.  Until then, she likes to dine at Olive Garden.  Her favorite thing about Spanish Oaks is, “It really is a community.  Parents, teachers, our wonderful principal … we are all working together to make this a wonderful environment for our students.”

Students, teachers and faculty, alike, enjoy working with Mrs. Reid.  The PTA is lucky to have her as our Teacher Representative and is able to get her perspective in our monthly meetings.  Thank you Jenna!  We all are so very glad you are here!  Jenna was kind enough to leave us with her favorite quote/saying:

You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself
any direction you choose.
You're on your own.
And you know what you know.
And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go ...    - Dr. Seuss, Oh! The Places You'll Go!
