6th Grade Day of the Dead Celebration

Submitted by sherri.peterson on Thu, 10/29/2020 - 13:29

Our sixth grade has been working hard writing about and gathering artifacts to put together tributes to special ancestors in a Day of the Dead Celebration.  They each created a display to share with their fellow 6th grade students about their chosen ancestor.  This activity was part of a social studies unit on cultures and traditions that have become part of our Spanish Fork area.  It was a special celebration of the lives of some loved ones who have moved on.  Nice job, students and teachers!

The teachers and staff at Spanish Oaks had a great day today with their students enjoying Halloween.  We went trick-or-treating in the morning, and enjoyed individual class activities and parties throughout the day.  It has been a great day for all!  A big thanks to parents who helped to contribute treats, crafts and other supplies to help make it happen!

Today we are spotlighting Courtney Caina. She loves hanging out with students everyday. She also worked at Riverview Elementary for 1 year. She says she’s married to the most handsome Peruvian man named Renzo. She teaches 5th grade. That's some stuff about Courtney Cania, one of Spanish Oaks Elementary 5th grade teachers.   By Alissa Wilkerson

We had a great time doing activities with apples today. We sorted them and made a graph. We read books and learned about Johnny Appleseed. We also made predictions on which apples would weigh the most, and used the balancing scales. We found out that Kinlee brought the heaviest apple.

Covid Can't Slow Us Down!!

Submitted by sherri.peterson on Fri, 10/23/2020 - 09:58

Here at Spanish Oaks, we've decided that Covid is not going to get the best of us!  Our small group instruction is going strong, despite the individual shields, table dividers, hand sanitizer, spray cleaner and Clorox wipes.  A huge shout out to Tara, Laura, Katie, Sandra and Steffani, our reading technicians, for their hard work and amazing job in instructing our students every single day!  They are amazing!
