April 1st not only brought SNOW (what???!?), but lots of fun jokes for April Fool's Day at Spanish Oaks. "Teacher, my mom accidentally washed my class shirt the night before our program (light green) with a red towel and now it's PINK! ... April Fools!" Typed note on our fancy new copy machines indicating that, "The copiers are now 'voice activated' ..." resulting in teachers shouting their copying codes into the machine to try to get them to make copies! Classic pranks and good sports all around!
Spanish Fork City invites all the students of Spanish Oaks Elementary to ‘compete’ alongside the Cowboys in The Reading Champions Challenge April 1 thru April 30, 2014. Please keep track of the reading you do during the month of April on the calendar attached and return it to your teacher at the end of the month.
We are so proud of our amazing first grade students who presented their very first Our Community Helpers program for families and our school. The students treated us to a countdown of the most well-known community helper jobs, i.e., plumbers, firemen, grocers, farmers, and of course .... teachers! Speaking of teachers, we MUST thank our awesome first grade team for this wonderful program: Mrs. Aagard, Mrs. Phelps and Ms. Lybbert. Well done, first grade!
A wonderful time was had by all at our Spanish Oaks PTA "Sweets and Stories" on Tuesday, April 1, from 6:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Students and families brought books, pillows and blankets to get cozy and ... READ! The BOGO Book Fair was open during this time, as well!! We had prize drawings for tons and tons of books! We are so happy families chose to come and read, and ... have a sweet with us!! A special "thank you" to Emily Gunderson and our wonderful Book Fair helpers for providing this super fun evening for all!
Spanish Oaks Elementary has the BEST custodian ever! Mr. Billie can be found cleaning the snow off teachers' cars after school many an afternoon. He can be found at all times making sure the school grounds are clean and safe for all who come to Spanish Oaks. What a great guy ... we are so lucky to have him! Thank you, Mr. Billie!
If you have 1,732,378 minutes, does it always go with cool music? Loud cheers? Over 100 books AND 6 brand new bikes given away? It does if they are reading minutes at Spanish Oaks Elementary!!! Mrs. Brown rocked the school, with the help of Mr. Crockett providing the tunes, at our March "Race into Reading" Assembly. Spanish Oaks children read, read and read ... and the minutes prove it! So does the love of reading that the children here have developed! Keep up the great work and READ READ READ!
