Arts EXTRA at Spanish Oaks

Submitted by kali.brown on

Students in first through sixth grade who are interested in the arts have signed up for the Spanish Oaks ARTS EXTRA Explorers.  Working with parents and faculty, these students will meet for 4 weeks to work on their artwork.  The group will explore drawing basics, use of a sketchbook, and discover various artists, styles, and techniques.  They will work toward an exhibition of their work and, as teams, to develop an art idea to share at the PTA Family Arts Evening on January 31st.  A special thank you to our wonderful Mrs.

Teacher Spotlight: Jerika Terry

Submitted by jenn.moxon on

Miss Jerika Terry is one of our awesome third grade teachers!  She was born and raised in Spanish Fork Utah.  Her mom, dad, big sister, and little brother like to vacation in California in the Bay area or at Disney Land.  Hawaii was fun, and Europe is next on her list.  She loves to read ... Gone with the Wind and The Hiding Place are some of her favorite books.

Reading, running, cooking, and watching movies are some of her favorite pastimes.  Jerika also loves Dr. Pepper, chips and salsa, brownies, pasta, and tacos.

The 4th grade students at Spanish Oaks have been sorted into their houses:   Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin.  Quidditch has begun!  Tri-Wizard tournaments and pensive challenges are ahead.  But, most of all ... the 4th graders are reading, reading, READING!!!

Mrs. Brown Honored with PEAK Award

Submitted by kali.brown on

Spanish Oaks Elementary's very own Mrs. Brown was honored with Nebo School District's PEAK (Positive Energy and Kindness) Award on December 11, 2013 at the December Board Meeting.

In her nomination, Mrs. DeAnn Carter said, “Kali has only been our principal for a short time, but every situation that she has had to deal with (and there have been some difficult ones already), she has turned it into a positive learning situation.  To quote a student after he came out of her office, ‘That's a nice principal’.”

5th Grade Presidents

Submitted by jenn.moxon on

"No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of the President; neither shall any person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States."

Our amazing 5th grade students learned all about what it takes to be the President of the United States of America, and about each of the 44 men who have led our country.  Thank you, 5th graders, for your service!
