On Monday, May 13th, the students at Spanish Oaks witnessed Mrs. Huff, our principal, walking the plank and getting soaked with water. This was because the students and staff met the goal of 2,500,000 minutes. The students at Spanish Oaks were challenged to set monthly reading goals and worked hard throughout the year, and to improve and progress in reading.

Students, teachers and staff at Spanish Oaks Elementary have made a commitment again this year to participate in the Road to Success reading program sponsored by the Ken Garff Automotive Group. The students were rewarded for their efforts in reading by being entertained by a magic show preformed by Paul Brewer.
Through this yearly reading program students are encouraged to become avid readers and foster a love for reading. This program is fun and exciting as students earn prizes and incentives by accumulating reading minutes. Three lucky readers were drawn to win bicycles at the assembly .

On May 16, 2013, the fourth grade students participated in their annual Wax Museum. Each student researched a famous person that they were representing and prepared a short speech and brochure with interesting facts to share about that person. The halls of the school were set up as a wax museum so the students and parents could attend. They would press the buttons on the desks bringing the figures to life.

The second grade students at Spanish Oaks Elementary participated in the annual Invention Convention. Each student had to complete the process of indentifying a problem, brainstorming solutions, and creating an invention to help with the solution. Some of the projects included games, kitchen appliances and robots. The students displayed their inventions for other classes and parents to walk through and enjoy.
