A great time was had by all at our PTA arts night here at Spanish Oaks Elementary. A special thanks to our PTA for their hard work and hours of time put in to make it a success. We have some pretty talented students here!
We have some rather old looking 2nd grader's today! Could it have something to do with 100's Day? Happy Hundredth Day from Mrs. Graham's and Miss Young's Classes!
Thanks to all our Extraordiberry Students this week for a job well done!!
Miss Mellor's PM Kindergarten students had a great time learning about and making jelly fish in Art class this week with Mrs. Christensen. "They could hardly contain their excitement as they swam back into our room to show off their projects to me," said Miss Mellor. When asked if they had fun in Art today they replied, "YES!!! We love Mrs. Christensen ... she always has fun things to make, and we LOVE our new jelly fish!"
Thank you, Mrs. Christensen, for making Art Class such a wonderful experience for our students here at Spanish Oaks. The UVU Owls' mascot came to help Spanish Oaks celebrate reading! There were fun games, book give-aways, music and 2 bike winners. Our bike winners were: Margaret in Mr. Lovell's class, and Brakin in Miss Mellor's Kindergarten class. A HUGE congratulations to them, and a "thank you" to our PTA for another great reading celebration!
Our PTA was so excited to recognize and reward some "Outstanding" individuals at Spanish Oaks today ... Mr. Todd Bradford was selected as the "PTA Golden Apple Outstanding Teacher." The PTA Golden Apple Award for Outstanding Educators recognizes a professional educator currently working with students in grades preschool-12. Mr. Bradford, who was nominated by an appreciative parent, is dedicated to the learning of ALL his fourth grade students, both past and present. We are proud of you, Mr. Bradford!
Spanish Oak's very own second grader, Carter B., took 6th place at the Art City International Chess Tournament on Saturday. There were 28 other second graders, and Carter was SO excited to get a trophy! Thank you, Carter, for representing our school with pride.
We invite students in first through sixth grade who want to sing with the Spanish Oaks Choir to register. We start practicing for our spring performances on Wednesday, January 27th, at 8:00 to 8:45 a.m. in the Little Theater.
We have the opportunity of presenting at the Music at the Mountain choral celebration on April 13, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. Our final performance will be in May (currently scheduled for May 11, 2016 at 6:30 p.m).
