Second Grade Invention Convention
Our second grade held their annual invention convention, and it was a huge success. We may have some budding inventors on our hands :)

Our amazing PTA presented a check for $2,000.00 to our school to be used to purchase technology. The funds came from our school carnival, which has become a looked-forward-to activity each Spring. The carnival is a ton of work, and we would like to thank our amazing PTA members who work so hard all year long to make it a success. We are also so grateful for how they spoil us as faculty and staff with dinners, birthday wishes, treats, etc. A sincere thanks to all of you!
Our fifth grade students work hard all year to accomplish all the tasks required to be a Golden Explorer. It is a year long commitment to excellence and is challenging to receive. The students presented with their plaques for this year are: Addilyn Stephenson, Trenton Black, Savannah Dustin, Colton Johnson, William Young, Ella O'Gwin, Mikah Hunter and Thomas Westover from Miss Babcock's class; Kaitlyn Smith from Mrs. Wengreen; and Andy Kadomtsev from Mrs. Rosenvall's class. Way to go, fifth grade!
A huge "hooray" goes out our Kiwanis TERRIFIC Kids recipients for 2017. They are a great bunch of students! We have: Alia Jensen and Mitchell Kendall from Mrs. Taylor/Mrs. Dyches class; Alexa Adams and Quinn Burtenshaw in Mr. Bradford's class; and Avery Duncan and Karter Barbakos from Mr. Crockett's class. Well done, students!
We are sad to say goodbye to the following teachers and staff members: Katie Haddock, McKensie Bellomy, Shaelee Nielsen, Kylie Rosenvall, Todd Bradford, Gaye Cummings, Carolyn Harrison, Jill Abbot and Joan Lunceford. They have had a deep and lasting impact on all of us here at Spanish Oaks. Each one has left their mark as they have loved their students and done their best to make school an awesome place to be. They will be deeply missed by all. We want to wish them well in their new adventures!
Nicole Cutshall kicked off our last school assembly by making a few remarks on UDOT SNAP and presenting our school a check for $150.00, a plaque and a banner designating our school as the Top Walking and Biking School! We are so pleased and want to thank the students who participated and made this possible. Kendahl Mendez and Kaden Kolste each won a scooter and a helmet as part of the celebration. We also gave away our last bike of the year to Zephyr Elliot. Congrats, everyone!
Congrats to all the 3rd-6th graders who placed in their divisions at the Track Meets. We have some great athletes!

One thing I personally look forward to every year is the 2nd grade Invention Convention. Students get to make their own inventions whether it be a life hack to make life easier or a cool game they created. Then classes sign up to come see all of the inventions. I was very impressed with the inventions the 2nd graders came up with. Way to go 2nd grade!
