"Carter and Emmalynn Hawks took a family trip to Albuquerque, New Mexico where they found out about how we got our Spanish Oaks Explorers mascot ...  They were able to learn some cool things about the two Spanish priest Explorers that Spanish Oaks mascot is named after.  They visited an old Catholic church in Old Town Albuquerque that these explorers stayed in during their Dominguez-Escalante expedition.  They also saw the monument of them in Green River, as well.  Cool stuff!  The kids felt proud to be an Explorer!"  Thank you, Hawks family, for sharing what you learned ... how fun to find out where we got our Spanish Oaks Explorers name!
