Today we celebrated Veteran's Day here at Spanish Oaks Elementary.  Local Spanish Fork Veterans helped our students realize that the freedoms we enjoy every day come at a price.  Men and women, past and present, have sacrificed the luxuries of their homes and families to make our world a free place, a place where we have the right to live as we see fit.  It was touching to see pictures of soldiers doing their duties, but also loving and protecting the children in the countries where they served.  We had the opportunity to hear taps being played on a bugle as the flags were retired, and got to "meet" our very own students' family members who are veterans and have served our country.  Thanks to our veterans, to Mrs. Waggoner for the slide presentation, and to the first and fifth grade students for the beautiful songs they shared with us.  As a symbol of our freedom, we here at Spanish Oaks will continue to stand, with hands on their hearts, to show respect to our flag, and to the men and women who keep us safe from day to day.
