Maceys School Cents Pays Off for Spanish Oaks

A huge "thank you" to Macey's for being an active member of our community of learning, and to all the parents that have signed up for Macey's Perks Program, with Spanish Oaks as their school.  Your shopping paid off today when we received a check from Macey's for $1,034 for use at our school.  We also appreciate Misty Bard, our PTA president, for helping to set up and make these types of programs a success.

Crystal Apple Award goes to ... Rachel Hughes

Tribute by: DeAnn Carter

The first time I talked to Rachel was over the telephone.  I answered a phone call at the school and someone on the other end was crying.  I was having a hard time understanding what she was saying.  I remember it was something about, "... already have my classroom set up and now I'm suppose to come and teach at Spanish Oaks Elementary ..." in between sobs.  I tried to comfort her and let her know that she was going to love working at the BEST school around.  It has been an awesome road since that day.  I got a good friend, and the school got a wonderful teacher.  I have watched Rachel grow in confidence in her teaching ability and love for the students.  She supports me in the office.  If she comes into the office and it is crazy, Miss Hughes is answering the phone, writing notes, signing for UPS packages, getting ice ... whatever she can do to help.  But, most of all, she is a great friend.  She has been to my girl's wedding receptions and has supported me in everything she can.  Rachel isn't just 'true blue', she's a true friend.   Rachel is truly deserving of the Crystal Apple Award.  She goes the extra mile.  She has led the choir and the science fair, and has been a team leader.   Thank you, Miss Hughes, for sharing your talents with Spanish Oaks Elementary.  So, everybody rise and shout for Rachel Hughes ... our Crystal Apple Award winner!

6th Grade Orchestra Monster Concert

Our 6th Grade orchestra students joined in the annual Orchestra Monster Concert held at SHHS.  The evening was a huge success, and an awesome musical treat for families and the community.  Congratulations to our orchestra for a job very well done!  A special "thank you" to Mr. Hansen, our amazing conductor ... We appreciate you!

Fifth Grade Program Entertains Spanish Oaks Studentbody

The fifth graders have been busy this year learning all about American History.  Using trivia questions, songs and pictures of their learning activities during the year, the students entertained us in a culminating program to share their newly-learned expertise.  It was definitely a job well done!  Thank you, students and teachers!

Technology Grant Awarded to Spanish Oaks

A special thanks to Mrs. Dyches, Mrs. Shorter and Mrs. Dimmick for taking the time to write a grant for chrome books, and to the board of the Nebo Foundation for awarding money to our school to help out in supplying a new Chromebook lab to assist the technology needs of our students.  Nice job!

Spanish Oaks Has Some Really Spoiled Secretaries

"Roses are red, butterflies are blue.  Our office staff is amazing and we all love you!"  The students at Spanish Oaks Elementary School have really gone all out this week in telling our secretaries (and facilitator) thanks for all they do.  Gifts, poetry, art projects, student books, treats, etc., have been delivered by the students to the office staff.  We want to tell Mrs. Carter and Mrs. Johnson how much we appreciate all they do behind the scenes to make our school a great place to be!
