Contraction Surgery in First Grade
In first grade, we learned all about contractions this week! We performed “surgery” on these words to combine them into one. We’re excited to find contractions as we read and use them in our writing!

Our third graders have been working really hard to learn their fast facts. This year when they passed off their fast facts they became “math wizards” and earned a wand. Every student has now passed off their fast facts. To celebrate we had a wand party. Students had butterbeer, played bingo, played minute to win it Harry Potter games, played heads-up, and made a wand holder. It was a great celebration of their work.
Our school enjoyed learning all about the rodeo and the different people who participate. We are doing great on our way to our reading goal, with 1,107,509 minutes read so far. We look forward to finding out who wins boots, hat, jeans and rodeo tickets :) Reading calendars come home tomorrow and go through the month of April. Keep up the great reading!
We also gave away 2 bikes yesterday. Our winners were Chloe Davis and Tristan Lott. Congratulations!
Tonia is one of our school secretaries. She loves her job and working with such fantastic people. She is married and has 3 girls. She keeps busy with her family, job, church and home responsibilities. She plays the piano and loves to Zumba. We are so blessed to have her here at Spanish Oaks!
Seven Spanish Oaks students competed today at the Central Utah Stem Fair. Congratulations to all these terrific students!!

3rd graders learned about the rotation and revolution of the sun, moon, and earth. Students applied what they had learned through dance and movement. The students had a great time.
Kindergarten students have been hard at work practicing different strategies they can use while subtracting. We had a fun time practicing subtraction using objects by subtracting or taking away french fries from our containers. We only wish that the french fries would have been real. What a fun day in math.
Those pesky leprechauns flipped out chairs, stomped in our notebooks, left green streamers all over the place, and didn’t even fall for our traps!
