We had fun at the track meet today! The forecast was stormy, but students were able to finish all their races before any rain hit. Our students were good sports, ran hard and had fun! Way to represent, 4th grade ... we are proud of you for working hard!

We had a great track meet. The 3rd grade students had a good time cheering each other on. Emry Barbakos won the 100 meter dash and took second in 200 meter dash. Madilyn Jackman took 3rd in the 400 meter dash. Way to go, third graders ... you were kind, showed respect and worked VERY hard! We love you!
"Utah Prevention Day gives schools around the state an opportunity to celebrate the prevention lessons that students have learned throughout the year. Teachers can review and reinforce those life skills taught before students leave for the summer. We want to protect our students from the dangers of drugs, under-age drinking, violence, crime, bullying, and promote resiliency through positive life choices ..."
Kindergarten Kids were "Busy as Bees" this week. We turned our classroom in to a beehive as we learned about the life cycle and life of a bee.
These were some of our jobs inside the hive:1. Guard: the hive and don't let bees in who do not have the correct scent or know the secret flying pattern.2. Garbage Workers: work constantly to keep the wax and debris out of the hive.3. Food Gathers: Bring pollen back to the hive for the colony.4. Queen Bee: lay the eggs and lead the colony.5. Queen's guards: protect the queen as she lays the eggs and keep her cool by flapping their wings to circulate the air. 6. Nursery Workers: feed, and tend to the new eggs as they are growing to adult bees. What a fun day!
This week’s Book Spotlight Cafe mystery guests were our very own Miss Mellor and Mrs. Taylor! They talked about their favorite books and they are now available in the Spanish Oaks library to be checked out! We are lucky to have such amazing teachers at our school! Thanks Miss Mellor and Mrs. Taylor for helping get students excited for summer reading! We only have one more week left of our Book Spotlight Cafe! Come next Thursday morning to see who our mystery guests will be!
Kindergarten students had a visit from the Springville Art Museum today. We learned about many different forms of art and got to see some beautiful prints. We then got a chance to explore and create our own mini abstract pictures using different shapes to create different objects.
