The second grade have enjoyed this week before Christmas break! They have celebrated traditions from around the world and have had a great Polar Express Day! Miss Robison is festive in her zebra pajamas, posing with her awesome second grade class! Merry Christmas!
Every other month one student from each class is drawn out of our reading bucket to celebrate their reading minutes with Mrs. Brown. This month students got to frost and decorate Christmas trees. It tasted as good as it looked! Nice job on your reading, students!
Our sixth grade orchestra students are having a blast learning to play their instruments, and they are really coming together as a group ... Kudos to our parents for supporting them in their artistic endeavors, as well as to our amazing director, Russell Hansen! Happy Holidays!
Miss Lybbert's first grade class presented a Christmas Reader's Theater to their parents and fellow first graders today. They worked hard and did an excellent job! They even had a student in their class play the piano for them to sing a Christmas carol. Great job Miss Lybbert's class!
The Fifth Grade students have been working really hard to learn how to play the recorder. The students learned how to read and count music. Today, they delighted their families with a concert that showcased their knowledge of music and their new talent. We are so proud of our Fifth Grade students!
We were honored to hear our Spanish Oaks orchestra perform for us this morning in a school wide assembly. They spread the feeling of Christmas as we heard Christmas songs from around the world. A special thanks for the time and effort put in by both the orchestra members and our orchestra teacher, Mr. Hansen. Well done!

Miss Mellor's morning kindergarten were the proud winners of the rootbeer float party with Mrs. Brown for the month of November. They earned the most drops for filling others buckets! Congratulations and keep up the good work!
After reading and studying about what a K-9 Officer does, the 3rd grade got to hear and learn from Officer Cory Grover and his K-9, Lorde. Students got to learn about how Lorde was trained, and the many hours it takes to get a dog ready to become a police dog. They were very excited to watch Lorde in action as he used his skills to find hidden objects ... even on top of the piano!
Congratulations to our amazing students who represented Spanish Oaks in the District Chess Tournament held at Art City Elementary on Saturday. They played hard and brought back individual trophies, awards and ribbons, as well as this awesome trophy for our school! Well done, Chess Masters!
Hooray for Spanish Oaks students for winning such a cool trophy for our school at the chess tournament this morning! The Chess Tournament for Nebo School District was held on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Art City Elementary for Grades K-6. It was a 5 Round Non-rated Swiss Tournament, and these students from Spanish Oaks did awesome!!
