SEP Dinner by PTA

A huge "thank you" to the PTA for the wonderful meal that they prepared for the faculty on SEP night.  It is such a nice thing to have a meal ready to eat between conferences.  You are so appreciated!

Mr. Rigby's fourth grade class did an excellent job of reciting some Halloween poems for the office staff.  They had great expression and we very impressive!  Thanks for sharing!

The winner of our first Spanish Oaks Faculty Cookoff was Gaye Cummings, one of our great technicians!  She makes a mean chili (and a great Olaf)!  Congrats, Gaye!

Reading Celebration with Mrs. Brown

A group of 'super readers' enjoyed having a reading celebration with Mrs. Brown this past week.  They were chosen for the great reading habits they exhibited during September.  Congratulations, readers!  Keep up the great work.

Learning Capacity in the Fourth Grade at Spanish Oaks

Mr. Bradford's class had a great time exploring capacity.  They were learning about how different containers can be combined to fill larger containers.  They weren't told the names of the standard measurement that they were actually using i.e., gallon, quart, pint, cup, ounce.  They referred to them as milk jug, rootbeer bottle, etc.  Later, they will label them with the standard measurement names, rather than the nonstandard names we were using.  The students will then make the connection that ... 4 quarts = 1 gallon, etc.   That's a super engaged bunch of students!

Holiday Food Drive at Spanish Oaks

Our annual Holiday Food Drive will run from November 1, 2015 - November 15, 2015.  Thanks to your generous donations, last year we collected ... 4,365 items!!  All donations to Tabitha's Way  will stay here locally to help stop hunger.  This year our goal is to EXCEED last year's goal!!

Halloween Costume Parade at Spanish Oaks

Attributions:

We will have our Halloween Costume Parade this Friday, October 30th at 2:45 p.m.-3:10 p.m.  The parade will go around the outside of the school again this year.  There is no bad place to watch ... You are welcome to sit any place around the school.  All students will walk around the entire school one time, with our kindergarten leading us.  Students are welcome to come dressed in their costume, but a reminder of NO WEAPONS OR ANYTHING THAT LOOKS LIKE A WEAPON!!  Please, NO MASKS ... I need to be able to recognize all of our students.  Students will return to their classrooms after the parade.  Once the bell rings, students will come outside to you to return home, as usual.  Thank you for your support ... Happy Halloween from Spanish Oaks!
