On Friday, October 9, 2015 at 5:00 p.m., we held our 3rd Annual 5K / 1 Mile “Book” Run. Students, teachers, parents, neighbors, etc., joined together to run to raise money for Spanish Oaks Elementary School. This year was a little different … we ran in the evening. To make it even more fun, many participants came dressed as their favorite Book Character!!! Thank you to to everyone who came out to support our school and enjoy our Spanish Oaks “Book” Run "fun"raiser! A huge "shout out" to Mr. Crockett for organizing our event ... Keep running, Explorers!
Our school is once again participating in the Box Tops for Education program this year. Classroom teachers will have a collection container in their room, and will help remind students to clip box tops and bring them to school. We are having a contest to see which class can collect the most box tops. The class that collects the most will win ... a pizza celebration! The contest will run from: October to February. Last year we collected over $1,500 dollars in box tops. This year's goal is $1,600.! Please remind your students frequently to collect and bring in their box tops from home ... Thank you for your support!
Second Graders in Mrs. Graham's class were so excited to have their doughnut party from Mrs. Brown! They won the party for being the class who got the most Facebook "likes and follows" for our Spanish Oaks Facebook Page. It's never too late to "like and follow" Spanish Oaks Elementary on Facebook, or to invite family members to "like and follow" so they can see the awesome things going on at Spanish Oaks!
Our students learned some great rules in our SNAP assembly yesterday. We were entertained with song and dance as we learned how to be safe when we walk and bike to school. Let's all remember our own school safe walking route, and get to and from school safely!
The Rotary Club of Spanish Fork and the Red Barn of Santaquin invite you to a Fall Fundraiser at the Red Barn on Saturday, October 10 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Any donation accepted for fun-filled activities including: Sing for Shoes Karaoke, Face Paint for Families, Water for Wearables, Fish for Food Fishpond, and Bob for Buttons Apple Bobbing.
Miss Robison's first grade class was the winning "Extraordiberry" class for the month of September. They had the most "Extraordiberry deeds" performed around our school. They earned an extraordinary celebration with Mrs. Brown ... Congratulations, and keep up the great work students!
Over 400 students, along with some siblings and parents, participated in Walk/Bike To School Day on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 for "International Walk to School Day." Many came dressed in GREEN to show their support, and as a reminder to "go" safely along streets as you walk and bike to school.
Students walking, biking or riding their scooter safely, and using sidewalks and crosswalks received a green paper to put in a prize drawing canister when they arrived at school. Twenty-four lucky students won a cool GREEN prize at the end of the day. A special "thank you" to the parent volunteers who helped hand out green papers and reminded students to always walk safely to school each day. A "shout out" to Mrs. D'Dee Rex for organizing our activity ... We are SAFE at Spanish Oaks!
