First through third graders at Spanish Oaks said goodbye to Spanish Extra. We finished the six week Spanish Extra club off with a small chips and salsa "fiesta"!
We had an awesome time learning some beginning Spanish. The students learned different words and phrases each week that they recorded in their dictionaries which they finally got to take home.
Great job, mis amigos!
Voyage with us from Sea to Shining Sea as we create art in a wide variety of mediums that are sure to capture the creativity of every child in our after-school Smart with Art class. Beginning Wednesday, March 23 - May 5, K-6 registered students will meet after school from 2:30pm-3:30pm to explore seascapes, ocean life, lighthouses, and more while learning from masters in art such as Edward Hopper, Winslow Homer and Henri Matisse!
Plans are being made for the annual PTA Carnival, which will be held Friday, May 13, 2016 from 5pm-8pm.
During the holiday months, a group of 55 fourth and fifth graders from Spanish Oaks changed the lives of many of the 608 children in the Utah Foster Care system. These students donated a grand total of $2,514.80! They earned this money by having donors pledge a penny for each minute read. Students read a total of 18,897 minutes during their week-long “Pennies for Peace” reading marathon. The story continues to be celebrated ... please see the below links for more infromation:
Jasmine Martin, second grade teacher, has been chosen as our school's Teacher of the Year. She joined us 4 years ago as an intern in fourth grade. She is married and expecting her first baby. She has a pleasant and calming personality that is great to be around.
Clive Romney treated us to some great information presented in song today as we watched the Pioneer Heritage assembly. The students were engaged and enjoyed the time spent learning about Utah history. We even had a band created with hoes and shovels. Thanks Mr. Romney for sharing your talents with us!
