Congratulations to our fifth grade DARE graduates. They had a great graduation, with three of our students, Naomi Good, Grace Herbert and Jace Tilton, sharing their essays. A special thanks to our DARE officer, Officer Warner.
Our 5th grade students at Spanish Oaks Elementary ended their Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) training on Tuesday, November 24, with a graduation ceremony for parents, students and teachers. Officer Warner of the Spanish Fork Police department was our amazing instructor this year. During the course students learned skills to help them make wise choices throughout their lives. At the graduation three students were recognized for writing outstanding D.A.R.E. essays, and ALL celebrated being outstanding D.A.R.E. students.

"Annually observed ... during American Educational Week, NATIONAL EDUCATION SUPPORT PROFESSIONALS DAY honors the contributions of school support employees. These support professionals provide invaluable services and are essential partners in the children’s education process ..." The end of this month we celebrated all our Classified Employees ... ALL of the "support" individuals who help keep our amazing school running! Each class thanked and celebrated one of these outstanding individuals ...
Our Spanish Oaks students (grades 2nd-6th) could be found cheering for the BYU Lady Cougars at the basketball game today. The students were amazing and represented Spanish Oaks with respect and wonderfully appropriate behavior. Everyone had a great time ... and BYU totally won!! Thank you, BYU, for the awesome opportunity ... Go, Extraordiberries!
Students of Spanish Oaks have had the giving spirit. We collected 2,232 food items to donate to Tabitha's Way. That equals over 1,000 lbs of food! It's an average of between 3-4 items per student from the school. Awesome job, students! Thank you to our student council and Mr. Crockett for organizing this event ... and a special "thank you" to all who donated.
Mrs. Martin's second grade had the most "extraordiberries" for the month of October. They were treated to rootbeer floats with Mrs. Brown. Congratulations and keep up the extraordinary work, students!
Time stood still today in the fifth grade as they spent a day back in Colonial America. Names were changed, class rules were a bit different, dress was proper, and activities had nothing modern about them! Only the SMART phone used for pictures was from 2015. What a great learning experience for the students to compare their daily classroom with a class from Early America. Fun day!
We had some super entries this year for our Reflections contest! A special "thank you" to all who participated! We had numerous winners, with four entries that went on to the district level. Our Merit Winners are: Gavin G. in literature, and Allison C. in Music Composition. Our Awards of Excellence will be continuing on to State: Allison C. in Photography and Bailey M. in Photography. Well done, students!
A special thank you to Laura Bigler, and our wonderful PTA members who helped with organization, assembly and judging!!
