PTA Carnival FUN at Spanish Oaks

Submitted by kali.brown on

Our annual PTA School Carnival was a BLAST!  It was the goal of our amazing PTA to "give back to the kids ..." They totally did this by providing an evening of FREE inflatables, a rock wall and a train for the students!  Families enjoyed food and drinks, entertainment and a talent show, beautiful weather and friend-shipping.  There were dodge-ball tournaments, a dunk tank (very popular), face painting, carnival games, and our infamous basket auction.  We are SO grateful to all who volunteered hours and hours organizing, implementing, running games, cleaning up, etc.&nbsp

Well done, 6th Grade Orchestra ... and a huge "shout out" and thank you to our outstanding director, Mr. Hansen!  "Thank you for coming to support your children last evening.  They knocked it out of the park and met all my expectations.  This has been an exceptional group.  Bravo to them all, and to you [parents] for encouraging them.  I hope you enjoyed your time listening to the fruits of their labors these past months.  I have had a blast working with them."  - Russell Hansen

Freedom Walk

Submitted by lindsay.robison on

The Spanish Fork American Legion Post 68 hosted the second annual Freedom Walk at the Spanish Fork Sports Park on May 8 and 9. Members from each of the branches of the military were represented and told stories to nearly 1,250 fifth-graders from 13 schools during the two-day event.

Prior to the walk, each student either interviewed or researched a veteran and wrote a summary of what they learned. One-page summaries and photos of these veterans, many of which are family members, were attached to banners, creating a Wall of Honor which lined the walking route.

Excellent Explorer Award Winners at Spanish Oaks

These students really get it done when it comes to exceptional behavior!  We want to recognize them for having a positive impact on our school.  Our last group of Excellent Explorers for this year are Cooper Johnson, Ezra Christensen, Brynlee Dyches, Heather Laing and Gracie Beck.  They were nominated by fellow peers or teachers for the following reasons: Heather Laing-Heather is one of the most optimistic students I have ever seen.  She works hard and never complains.  When she struggles with a concept she has a growth mindset and asks for help.  She is always
